Company History & Overview: In 2004 we began construction of our state-of-the-art tree & shrub nursery and its advanced "pot-in-pot" growing system. In 2007 we built and opened our new, upscale garden center and gift shop. In 2010 we built our retail greenhouse and in 2011 we launched our online web store.
“Maple Lane Sells Beauty!” We are actually four businesses in one: 1) upscale retail gift shop, 2) upscale retail garden center and greenhouse, 3) retail and wholesale tree & shrub nursery and 4) online store that carries most of this and more. We have a variety of perennials, annuals, shrubs, vegetables, fruits and other greenery, along with many top quality product lines in lawn & garden décor & supplies, seasonal décor, home décor, unique gifts and more.
All team members need to present themselves in a professional manner to reflect our image. We sell beauty – beautiful trees & plants, gorgeous & unique gifts and classy /stylish / cute home & garden décor. By 2015, we plan to make Maple Lane the leading upscale gift shop, garden center and tree nursery in the 10-county area that surrounds Urbana, Ohio.
Independent Contractor or Employee Basis: Because Maple Lane is closed each January & February, you may be applying for a seasonal position. These positions range from 3 to 10 months and are considered outside contractors or consultants with no benefits or taxes withheld from your pay. If applying for a management position, you may qualify to become a “permanent employee,” and, after a few months, we could discuss a more typical payroll arrangement. We are considering becoming a 12-month operation and adding a couple of full time managers in the near future.
Competitive Hourly Rates and Progressive Rewards: Even our entry level positions start above minimum wage. We firmly believe in pay-for-performance and promotion from within. Some of our sales positions offer attractive bonuses.
General Criteria for All Positions: Serious candidates are fun, energetic, highly motivated, optimistic, trustworthy, flexible, service oriented, hard working and dependable. Building this culture is a proven formula for everyone’s success. Nursery crew positions are more physically demanding.
